Sunday Setlist

Word of God Speak- A (Mercy Me)

How Great Thou Art- A (Baloche)
Mighty to Save- A (Mighty to Save)
O For a Thousand Tongues- E (Crowder)
We Crown You- E (Fee)

Glorious- B (Tomlin)

This sermon series on "Discernment" has been tough for me...it's something I've been wrestling with personally- What does it mean to hear from God? How do you know for sure?...My hesitations and frustrations about the topic are the result of personal times when I thought I was hearing from God but it turned out it wasn't Him...as well as seeing how others have used the claim that they have heard from God for personal gain...

So what's risen to the top for me is this...how relevant the discernment series is- and to even ask the questions 'what is God saying,' or 'am I hearing from God' is a good sign...it shows that you have a desire for Him...because we are all given a need to know and hear from God- created with a need for a relationship with God, however, without a renewed heart, we do not and will not desire Him...

How has God spoken to me?...how do I discern God's voice?...well the best and only completely reliable way is Scripture...I have always loved Jesus' response to Peter when he called Him the the Messiah..."this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven." (Matthew 16:17)

Sunday Setlist

Awesome is the Lord Most High- E (Tomlin)
All Because of Jesus- A (Fee)
How He Loves- C (McMillan)
Stronger- C (Hillsong)

Fairest- D (Desperation Band)

Todd did a great job leading out on "All Because of Jesus" keeping up the energy that we started with both services, and his transition into prayer kept the focus on Christ as we entered into a more intimate time of worship with "How He Loves" and building into "Stronger"...

Since we were running short on time we had to limit "Fairest" to only the 1st verse, 2 choruses, then ending with the last verse...overall a great weekend and even better attitudes ready to serve one another and give to God...

Another highlight and praise was the addition of our new keyboard that God blessed us with...it immediately added a fuller sound...thank You Lord!

Sunday Setlist

Sweetly Broken- B (Riddle)
Today is the Day- C (Brewster)
Hosanna- G (Baloche)
Your Grace is Enough- G (Maher)

The challenge I gave coming out of "Sweetly Broken" for the new year was this:

What would 2011 as well as our worship look like if instead of being defined by our successes we would be defined by our brokenness?

Dan did a great job transitioning through prayer going into "Hosanna" which is always a powerful song that invites God to help us keep Him in focus instead of our issues and worries...we kept strumming the G and kicked in big with the intro to "Your Grace is Enough" which ended our first worship time of 2011 by celebrating the greatest thing there is- Christ!
